ASBESTOS

LABORATORY
Presence/absence analyses of asbestos are carried out using X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Polarized Light Optical Microscopy (PLOM), with identification of the asbestos type—chrysotile, crocidolite, amosite, tremolite, anthophyllite, and actinolite—as specified in Italian Legislative Decree 81/2008. Analyses are performed on manufactured products, soils, rocks, green stones, railway ballast, and asbestos-containing waste, including asbestos cement, Eternit, asbestos cardboard, linoleum, vinyl asbestos, adhesives, demolition waste, gaskets, textiles, ceramic materials, insulation materials, sprayed coatings, and polymers.

Analitica is a qualified and accredited laboratory by the Italian Ministry of Health for carrying out asbestos analyses using XRD, SEM air, SEM bulk and PLOM and is included in the Emilia-Romagna regional list of laboratories authorized to perform asbestos testing.
We support clients throughout all stages, from asbestos sampling and monitoring in ambient air and workplaces, and for clearance and re-occupancy of living environments, through to subsequent analyses of airborne asbestos fibers using Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM-EDS) or Phase Contrast Optical Microscopy (PCM), performed directly in our laboratory.

We also carry out assessments of the conservation state of asbestos-cement (Eternit) roofing in accordance with the Emilia-Romagna Regional Guidelines and the VERSAR and AMLETO algorithms, in order to identify compact asbestos and friable asbestos-containing materials.
Elenco analisi

Presence/absence analysis and identification of asbestos using X-ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and Optical Microscopy (PLOM) of the various types of asbestos minerals.

Analysis of asbestos concentration in soils and waste materials as required by the regulations on excavated soils and rocks (Italian Ministerial Decree 161/2012 and Legislative Decree 152/2006).

Monitoring of asbestos emissions into the atmosphere and in workplace environments through sampling with high-flow and low-flow pumps, and assessment of the concentration of airborne asbestos fibers using optical or electron microscopy.

Phase Contrast Optical Microscopy (PCOM) analysis to determine the concentration of total airborne asbestos fibers, in accordance with the procedures set out in Italian Ministerial Decree 6 September 1994, Annex 2A.

Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM-EDS) analysis to determine the concentration of airborne asbestos fibers for workplace clearance and re-occupancy, in accordance with the procedures set out in Italian Ministerial Decree 6 September 1994, Annex 2B.

Determination by SEM-EDS of the length-weighted geometric mean diameter minus two standard errors (DLG–2ES) and of the percentage of alkali and alkaline earth oxides, and labeling of MMVFs in accordance with Regulation (EC) No. 1272/2008, Annex VI.
